Sex Desire Records reissue of As Sahar's fifth album, "Tir," from 2008! Despite being a masterpiece, this album has been largely unavailable since its 2008 CD release, only being reissued on tape in 2020. It's based on the myth of the Zoroastrian archer Arash, and "Tir" means arrow in Persian. The first three tracks are arranged as a suite, continuing the same trajectory as their first album but deepening it even further with their intense and passionate melodies and song structures, captivating you. They inherently possessed immense musical potential, and could have made any kind of music. This is fully demonstrated in the stunning guitar melodies and harmonies, as well as the occasional piano and synth weaves. But the sharp, arrow-like gazes of the members holding knives in the booklet's double-page spread make it clear that these guys truly can only thrive in black metal. Black metal was a movement that emerged simultaneously all over the world, and it's common knowledge to those who follow our label's work that unique music was created in each region, with artists influencing each other through tape trading. Starting out as the progressive band Ethos in 1987, they are also one of the originators. While interacting with a variety of bands, including Burzum, Rotting Christ, and Japan's Ohura Mazdo, they established a sound that is entirely unique to As Sahar, and the Singaporean/Malaysian black metal that they created and which has continued to influence future generations has a completely different melody from Western black metal, and it is also different from Japanese black metal. In a black metal scene that is becoming increasingly homogenized, we are honored to be able to reissue this record, documenting their journey as they continue to fight with their own unique sound.
